My dress series makes light of clothing, rendering it dangerous or impractical. The tar paper is stiff and toxic, the tissue paper is delicate and transparent, and the nylon is constrictive and dangerous with its metal pins. It is human nature to prejudge others by what they are wearing. I wanted to touch on this ridiculous conformity, exploring how when we are all the same, we are trapped.

Dress # 3, 2004
Tar paper and artificial sinew; 33 x 23 x 19 in.
