On Friday, November 3, 2017, Malcolm Cochran, of Columbus College of Art & Design, was awarded International Sculpture Center’s (ISC) Outstanding Educator Award for 2017. The ceremony was held in the Canzani Center at Columbus College of Art & Design.
Malcolm’s friends, family, colleagues, and students, came out to support the Artist/Professor and witness him receive the award. Presentation of the award was given by the ISC Executive Director, Johannah Hutchison, she spoke to Cochran’s success and inspiration as an outstanding educator. The award ceremony was followed by a party honoring Malcolm.
“Malcolm set the same kind of expectations for us that he sets for himself, but he met each of us on our own terms - the terms our work set for itself. He was genuinely invested in our work, so he felt even our minor victories with the same excitement we did.” –Matthew Flegle
The ISC established the Outstanding Educator Award program in 1996 to recognize individual artist-educators who have excelled at teaching sculpture in institutions of higher learning.
