Trying the Combinations:
A Conversation with Richard Deacon
by John Routledge
Richard Deacon is one of the most prolific British artists practicing today, with a career spanning nearly four decades. Using a wide variety of media and processes, he has developed a diverse and constantly surprising body of work—from small-scale pieces to monumental public sculptures. A major exhibition, covering the full range of his sculpture, is on view at Tate Britain through April 27, 2014. I spoke to him on the occasion of his “Association” show at London’s Lisson Gallery...see the entire article in the print version of March's Sculpture magazine.

Red Republic, 2010. Glazed ceramic, 35 x 52 x 47 cm., base: 65 x 65 x 65 cm.
