A publication of the
International Sculpture Center

From the Executive Director

This issue explores the inspiration and process essential to advanced sculpture today, from Alice Aycock's recent works, which capture a precarious moment of powerful energy, to Richard Deacon's exploration of materials, language, and nature, Vincent Fecteau's pursuit of an essential, prime object, Josiah McElheny's commingling of disciplines and publics, Stanley Rosen's enigmatic bridging of heritage and essence in ceramic sculpture, and Ana Maria Tavares's use of space as a catalyst for unforgettable experiences.

And speaking of unforgettable experiences, please join us on April 18 when we will honor Alice Aycock and Betye Saar with the ISC Lifetime Achievement Award in New York City. More information is available on page 14 and at . Next month's issue will feature Betye Saar, so be sure to subscribe to the print or digital edition of Sculpture.

It is with great respect that we announce the retirement of Glenn Harper, Executive Editor of Sculpture. Glenn has worked at the ISC for 22 years and has made incredible contributions to our publications. It has been an honor to work with him over the years and we all wish him the best.

-Johannah Hutchison, ISC Executive Director
