The International Sculpture Center 2018 Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Awards
The International Sculpture Center is proud to present the winners of the 2018
Outstanding Student Achievement in Contemporary Sculpture Awards. This year's
program attracted a large number of nominees from university sculpture programs in
North America and abroad. From a pool of 354 nominees from 138 schools, the jury
selected 17 award recipients and 18 honorable mentions. This year's jurors were Sam
Ekwurtzel, Brooklyn-based artist and 2006 Student Award recipient, Brooklyn,
NY; Gina Miccinilli, educator and working sculptor, Mahwah, NJ; and Ysabel Pinyol,
Curatorial Director, Mana Contemporary, Jersey City, NJ. This annual award was founded
in 1994 to recognize young sculptors and encourage their continued commitment
to the field of sculpture, as well as to recognize the recipients' faculty sponsors
and institutions. Selected pieces from these winners will travel to Mana Chicago in
September 2018 and Pyramid Hill Sculpture Park in February 2019. Two of this year's
winners, Natani Notah and Olufunmilayo Bright, received a six-week residency at
Grounds For Sculpture.
