On Monday, April 24, 2017 the world joined together in celebration of sculpture during the 3rd annual International Sculpture Day, or IS Day.

The third celebration of International Sculpture Day was huge! More than 600 organizations across the world participated, with thousands of people in attendance. The ISC’s homepage streamed #isday throughout the week of April 24 with an outreach of over five million impressions. Events took place all over the U.S. and in up to 40 different countries.

The ISC participated in several ISDay events. In addition to sponsoring a booth at Artexpo New York, the ISC hosted a panel discussion led by Glenn Harper, editor of Sculpture magazine on Monday, April 24. “Writing Sculpture...” participants Joyce Beckenstein and Robert C. Morgan, both contributors to Sculpture, joined Glenn to explore what it means to write about and for sculpture. Then, on April 30, at the ISC’s studio #547 at Mana Contemporary, ISC residents Katie Hovencamp and Emily Nelms Perez opened their exhibition “Her:Here,” on view through June 1, showing works that engage with concepts of what defines a female individual in regard to space and identity. In both sculptural works and installations, Hovencamp and Nelms Perez define space as a continuous area or expanse that is free, available, or unoccupied, responding to recent political threats to equality, immigration, and women’s rights. Visit for more information.

Finally, the ISC closed out ISDay with a TASK Party with Oliver Herring at Mana Contemporary on April 30. Participants worked across a dynamic range of materials, as Herring called on them to create, perform, and pass on tasks, nourishing a fluid environment of creativity.

We would like to thank everyone who helped to make this third ISDay such a success. Want to participate in 2018? Contact e-mail or call 609-689-1051 x312 for more information
