David Engdahl’s sculptures emanate from a legacy of woodworking father and grandfather, an impressionist painter mother, and from an architectural education and career. “My work attempts to create an integrity of material/method/form as a language of expression and explores the relationship between organic form and technology through use of a natural material altered by a technological process (plywood)” explains Engdahl. His highly finished laminated wood sculptures have been exhibited for the last thirty years in museums and galleries in twenty states, in four U.S. embassies abroad and are included in numerous museum and corporate collections. In addition, he is recipient of a National Endowment for the Arts Fellowship.
