Anita Larkin is an Australian sculptor graduating with a Bachelor of Visual Arts from Sydney College of The Arts in 1993. She has been represented by Defiance Gallery in Sydney, Australia since 2002 and is currently a sessional lecturer at the National Art School, Sydney. Larkin’s sculptural practice focuses on current socio-political issues and human interactions with functional objects. Her works are made using collected objects; direct casting of parts of the human body. A feltmaker since 1993, Larkin often incorporates felted wool into her sculptures. Employing intentional and playful disruption of the familiar object, Larkin’s works are familiar but strange. The ordinary object is transformed into something beguiling and loaded.
