Born in Philadelphia on November 13, 1969, my first significant investigation in the creative process occurred in a finger painting when I was just a child. From that moment on, my studies have expanded from Saturday classes at The University of the Arts, to my BFA from School of Visual Arts in 1992, to my MPS from Pratt Institute in 1996, up until today where I continue my studies at The Art Students League. It was in paint where I realized my first delight. Working in oils, latex and enamels, I created environments in which one could be fused with the work, live within the imagery, the movement and the forms. I wanted to create a world of passion. In 1997 I had found that world in a piece of stone. That hard impenetrable piece of earth held a piece of me. Carving in stone is a captivating, convoluted and challenging material in which to work. A catharsis occurs which then fuels the creative process unlike all other forms of expression. My work is the persistent exploration of form and movement. I wish to bring the stone to life, to let it breath, to impact the setting in which it occupies. It is an adventure as I use the technique of Direct Carving on the stone and let the form emerge from within. The piece is complete when it speaks to the essence of the soul. I love the work and wish to persist in my journey for many years to come.
