Having a profound interest in the natural world, Laura Petrovich-Cheney is an artist whose media is deeply rooted in humankind's connection to the environment by resurrecting debris found on her daily walks. Her autobiography and her connection to the earth inform her work as she documents place and experience. In support of her believes on sustainability, she also maintains several colonies of honeybees, a fruit orchard, and extensive native plant gardens. Her art seeks to foster a new understanding and respect for the planet, to imagine solutions to our most pressing challenges of climate change and inspire each other to work together to make a difference

Laura Petrovich-Cheney received her MFA in Studio Arts from Moore College of Art and Design, her MS in Fashion Design from Drexel University and her BA in Fine Arts from Dickinson College. Her work has been exhibited nationwide and is included in several private and public collections. She has received awards from the National Academy of Art, Monmouth Museum, and the New Jersey Art Center and was awarded a Geraldine Dodge Grant. Petrovich-Cheney was selected a 2013-14 A.I.R. Gallery Fellow; the A.I.R. Gallery is first artists-run gallery for women in the United States.

In addition, she is a National Board Certified Art Educator working with children from kindergarten to middle school. She presents lectures on art education nationally. She has been recognized by National Art Education Association, the Council for Art Education, and the New Jersey State Department of Education for her outstanding teaching practices. Petrovich-Cheney is also an active member several not-for-profit art organizations and was selected to write the art education curriculum for New Jersey Museum of Contemporary Art. .
