I graduated from the University of Washington with a bachelors of arts in Physics in 1965. My background in science has influenced my explorations in art. I then went on to receive a B.F.A. in sculpture and painting from the Pacific Northwest College of Art in 1972 as well as an M.F.A. in sculpture from Portland State University in 1981.

As one of the founding members of one of the oldest galleries in Portland, Oregon, Blackfish Gallery, I have been a member of the Oregon art community for many years. I have taught various art classes at Portland Community College as well as Mount Hood Community College since 1981. This has given me the opportunity to teach others about art and further sustain the appreciation of art in Oregon.

Most recently I have returned to sculpture, but this time with a kinetic emphasis which utilizes my background in physics. I like to call these time variable volumes. I am using plexiglas shapes that are hollow and filled with colored oils. I am bringing these sculptures to life with electrically timed motors and pumps that allow the pieces to tilt, rotate, and shift , which in turn mobilize the colored oils throughout the hollowed plexiglas and tubing. Experimenting with the timing, volume, color, dimensions, motors, viscosity, and contours of these sculptures has been an exploration of both beauty and physics.
