Originally from Rockville Maryland, Brian now works out of central Pennsylvania where he graduated from Messiah College with a BFA in 3-Dimensional art. A youth full of drawing opened his path to art, and influenced him to take up sculpture as well. Taking cues from the minimal and post minimal art, Brian’s work emphasizes craftsmanship and the synthesis of form and content. A sensibility to material and a love of learning and exploration guides his process.

Artist's Statement:

Man surrounds himself with physical forms and spiritual structures in order to make sense of the world. These intersect most profoundly in the architecture of cathedrals, mosques and temples. Using the language of religious architecture my sculpture examines the spiritual realities of the state of mankind. In light of my own faith, I wrestle to understand Christian doctrines, whilst expressing the universal, primitive longing to find eternal truths in a fleeting and imperfect world.
