 Monroe Isenberg, originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota, completed his undergraduate studies, Cum Laude and with honors, in Sculpture and Psychology at Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon (2013). After graduating and working as a fabricator and artist in Portland, he moved to Washington, D.C to pursue an MFA at the University of Maryland where worked as an adjunct professor and artist. Monroe has exhibited nationally and is the recipient of multiple awards, grants, and residencies including the International Outstanding Student Achievement Award recognized by the International Sculpture Center, the Ann Bartsch Dunne Scholarship 1st place Award in sculpture, the Dean’s Fellowship at the University of Maryland, and the Tom Rooney Prize awarded by the Washington Sculpture Group. His work is held in public and private collections and reacts to overlooked natural phenomena that engages elemental form, balance, tension, light, sound, and feeling.  Most recently, Monroe was invited to lead workshops at the Lunga School in Iceland and participate in the school’s fellowship program for three months in fall and winter of 2019.
