Artist Statement

A meditation on stillness and volume, Listener centers on the basic premise that pottery-making is a meaningful indexical process. The physical memory of touch is recorded in 42 porcelain forms. Sound captured from the voided spaces of these vessels is transmitted through a steel amplifier, creating a resonant hum between the objects. These distilled material poetics create a contemplative pause—a still moment to consider ourselves in passing time and reflect on our imprints.
