Artist Statement

My practice engages the murky ethical territory of Machine Learning systems. Questioning the ramifications of what could become the most powerful human product to date, I examine the threshold between what we know and what we want to know. If we manage to engineer machines that can outperform us, what then, does it mean to be human? Using traditional wood- and metal-working in conjunction with software and robotics to interrogate differences between haptic knowledge and machine intelligence, I investigate how we can expand notions of intelligence and progress.
